Properties
Cross-linked polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVPP) can be regarded as a linear chain of PVP molecules cross-linked with each other by physical or chemical methods. Some of the properties of PVPP obtained by different synthesis methods are different due to different cross-linking methods and degrees of cross-linking. Depending on the degree of cross-linking, PVPP exhibits super-absorbent resin (low degree of cross-linking), absorbent gel (medium degree of cross-linking), and insoluble substance (high degree of cross-linking). In contrast to PVP, which is a water-soluble polymer, PVPP is only soluble in water.
Fields of application
Cross-linked polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVPP) is a cross-linked polymer insoluble in water, strong acids, strong bases and general organic solvents Chemicalbook agent by the polymerisation of vinyl pyrrolidone monomer under specific conditions. As an important polymer fine chemical products, PVPP has many excellent and unique properties, has been widely used in cosmetics, food, medicine and other fields.
Uses
It is mainly used as a stabiliser for beverages such as beer, white wine, grape juice and fruit juice to extend their storage period. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is mainly used as a disintegrant for tablets, but also as a disintegrant and filler for pills, granules and hard capsules.
