Properties
Yellowish brown to brownish red amorphous powder at room temperature. Slightly odour, easily soluble in water or ethanol, aqueous solution is acidic, insoluble in ether, chloroform, acetone, ethane and carbon tetrachloride. Povidone iodine aqueous solution without tincture of iodine shortcomings, light colouring, easy to elute, small stimulation of mucous membranes, without ethanol deiodination, no corrosive effect, and low toxicity.
Uses
1. It has the bactericidal effect of iodine, and is used as a bactericidal disinfectant and bacteriostatic agent in pharmaceuticals, used as an antiseptic for eye drops, nose drops, creams, etc., and can be made into a disinfectant solution.
2.Mainly used in hospital surgery, injection and other skin disinfection and equipment disinfection, as well as stomatology, gynaecology, surgery, dermatology and other prevention of infection; family food utensils, appliances and other disinfection; food industry, aquaculture for sterilization and disinfection and animal disease control, etc., is the international and domestic preferred iodine-containing medical bactericides and sanitary disinfectants.
