Chemical Properties
Lithium silicate, a type of water-soluble silicate. Odourless and tasteless transparent liquid. Soluble in water and alkaline solutions, insoluble in alcohols and organic solvents. Because the radius of lithium ion is much smaller than the radius of sodium and potassium ions, so the lithium silicate aqueous solution has some unique properties, like sodium water glass, the same as the chemical reaction in acid, generating silica gel. Produced by high temperature melting of lithium carbonate and silicon dioxide, used to calibrate thermocouples and other thermoelectric components. The aqueous solution of lithium silicate has excellent water resistance, high temperature resistance and wet and dry change impact performance and unique self-drying and insoluble, in the anti-corrosion, architectural coatings and advanced adhesives have a wide range of uses.
