Meglumine, chemical name 1-deoxy-1-(methylamino)-D-sorbitol. It is an amino sugar extracted from glucose, a white crystalline powder. Almost odorless, slightly sweet, with salty glutinous rice. Meglumine is used as a co-solvent in pharmaceuticals. Meglumine can form salts with some drugs to increase the solubility of the drug. It can also be used as a co-solvent and surfactant for contrast agents.
Meglumine synonym: 1-deoxy-1-(methylamino)-d-glucito; 1-Deoxy-1-(methylamino)hexitol; Glucitol, 1-deoxy-1-(methylamino)-, D-; Meglumin; Methylglucamin; Methylglucamine; D-GLUCITOL, 1-DEOXY-1-(METHYLAMINO)-; D(-)-N-METHYLGLUCAMINE
