Chemical Properties
Magnesium acetate is also called ‘magnesium acetate’. Chemical formula Mg(C2H3O2)2, molecular weight 142.4, white or colourless crystal. Melts at 323°C and decomposes at the same time. Relative density 1.42, easily deliquescent, very soluble in water, aqueous solution is neutral, also soluble in methanol and ethanol. Magnesium carbonate can be dissolved in aqueous acetic acid, filtration, filtrate placed in a concentrated sulfuric acid dryer natural evaporation, can be precipitated tetrahydrate, and then heated to a constant weight of 130 ℃ and the preparation of magnesium acetate.
Usage
Used in printing and dyeing, also used as analytical reagent and olefin polymerisation catalyst.
