Chemical Properties
White or almost white microfine granules or powder. Easily deliquescent. Exposed to air or light precipitation of iodine and become brown, soluble in ethanol and ether, slightly soluble in glycerol. Aqueous solution PH~5, mp446℃.
Uses
1. Used as local antiseptic disinfectant and astringent in medical treatment, and as reagent for analysing nitrite, free chlorine and other oxidants.
2. Used as iodine starch reagent to determine nitrite. Used as a reagent for the analysis of free chlorine and other gaseous agents.
